Tourism and Recreation |
Siberia by tourism can be conditionally divided into two zones: northern and southern.
Southern Siberia is the most developed and populated.
Ranges of Altai, Sayan, Transbaikalia and Prebaikalia Mountains are separated by intermountain hollows cover the southern part of Siberia. Numerous rivers of Siberia flow from these mountains. There are a lot of fresh- and salt-water lakes including the deepest lake in the world, Baikal. Southern Siberia is located in taiga, forest-steppe and steppe zones. It features a wealth of vegetation and wildlife. The territory is also rich in mineral waters and natural therapeutic muds. The climate is strongly continental, milder in southern Siberia than in northern Siberia.
The bioclimate is characterized by settled weather patterns of winter and summer, favourable summer, relatively uncomfortable winter, stable snow cover. It all creates opportunities for a development of sport, extreme as well as medical and recreational tourism.
