The Bodaybinsky District of Irkutsk Region is located on the Vitim–Patom Highland in the north-eastern part of Irkutsk Region. The District borders on Yakutia in the north and north-east, , on the Republic of Buryatia and Chita Region in the south and south-east, on the Mamsko-Chuysky District of Irkutsk Region in the west.
Total area is 91975 km2. Population of the Bodaybinsky District is 24 500 inhabitants as of 01.01.2009.
Administrative centre of the Bodaybinsky District is the city of Bodaybo which population is 15 000 inhabitants.

Katangsky District of Irkutsk Region is located in the northern part of Irkutsk Region, total area of the district is 139 043 km2 (or 14 mln hectares) which is the fifth part of Irkutsk Region.
The Katangsky District borders on the Evenkysky Autonomous District of Krasnoyarsky Krai in the north and the north-west, on Yakutia in the north and the north-east, on the Ust-Kutsky District of Irkutsk Region, the Nizhneilimsky District of Irkutsk Region, the Kirensky Distict of Irkutsk Region in the south.
The territory of the Katangsky District is located on the Middle-Siberian Plateau. The district lies north and south 58° N to 64° N, west and east from 140° E to 110° E. The landscape is represented by a billowy plateau, but the territory of the New Tungusska abounds in Siberian volcanogenic trapps include bald mountains, rocks, ridges.

The Nukutsky District of Irkutsk Region is located in the south-western part of Irkutsk Region and is an administrative division of Ust-Orda Buryat Autonomous Okrug. The District borders on the Balagansky District of Irkutsk Region in the north, the Alarsky District of Irkutsk Region in the south-east, the Zalarinsky District of Irkutsk Region in the south-west and the Ziminsky District of Irkutsk Region in the west. The District is bounded on the east by the Bratsk Reservoir.
The total area of the Nukutsky District of Irkutsk Region is 2400 square km.

 Chivyrkuisky Bay is located in the north-west of Lake Baikal and included in the Zabaikalsky National Park in the Republic of Buryatia.
The Zabaikalsky National Park is located in the central part of the western shore of Lake Baikal. This is a goltsy mountain-taiga zone where alpine meadows and alpine tundra of the Barguzin Range and the Svyatoy Nos Peninsula, mountain coniferous forests of the Baikal Depression slopes, dry pine forests of sand lake plains with dunes along the shore of the Barguzinsky Bay encroaching on bogs of the Chivyrkuy Isthmus alternate. The Chivyrkuisky Bay is separated from Lake Baikal by the Svyatoy Nos Peninsula on the west, by the Svyatonossky Isthmus on the south and by the mainland on the east and the north-east.
The area of the Chivirkuisky Bay is 270 square kilometers.
