Kazachinsko-Lensky District of Irkutsk Region Kazachinsko-Lensky District of Irkutsk Region pertains to the group of Cis-Lensky regions equated with regions of the Far North. Kazachinsko-Lensky District is bounded on the east by the Republic of Buryatia, on the north by Kirensky District of Irkutsk Region, on the west by Ust-Kutsky District of Irkutsk Region and Zhigalovsky District of Irkutsk Region, on the south by Kachugsky District of Irkutsk Region.

Kazachinsko-Lensky District of Irkutsk Region is rather small for remote areas of Irkutsk Region (4.3 % of Irkutsk region, 33 300 km2), population is 20 900 inhabitants, as of 1.01.2006 (0.9 % of population of Irkutsk Region).

Angarsky District of Irkutsk Region Angarsky District of Irkutsk Region is located in the most economically developed south-western part of Irkutsk Region. The district comprises Angarsk, a city of oregion subordinance, Meget, an urban-type settlement, and also Odinsk and Savvateevka, rural settlements.

History of Angarsk began in 1945 year when project site of Coal-to-Liquids Plant which coal was mined in Cheremkhovsky District was established in the interfluve area of Angara and Kitoy rivers. Pioneer builders came in wild taiga, on the shore of Kitoy river, in autumn of the same year. And the worker's settlement had already been granted the status of the city named Angarsk.

Decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR “On the Award of the Order of the Red Banner of Labour to Angarsk City of Irkutsk Region for Success in Five-Year Plan of Development of Industry” was issued in 1971, 18th January.

Ziminsky District of Irkutsk Region Ziminsky District of Irkutsk Region is located in the southern part of Irkutsk Region. It has a total area of 7 000 square km. Official date of the foundation of Ziminsky District is 14th February of 1923 year.

General population of Ziminsky District is 15 000 inhabitants, as of 01.01.2004. Population density of Ziminsky District is 2.1 per sq.km (dencity of Irkutsk Region is 3.4 per sq.km. Rural population is concentrated in 54 settlements, population distribution is irregular, population varies from 2000 to 4000 inhabitants. Rural settlements of more than 1000 people are Kimiltai, C-Hazan, Batama. Rural settlements of less 100 people are 20.

Agricultural industry is most developed in economy of Ziminsky District, its percentage in sales revenue is 62%. There are 48 farm enterprise registered in Ziminsky District, 15 of these are production enterprises which produce and realize agricultural products. There are 33 reinforced-concrete bridges on the roads of the district.

Balagansky District of Irkutsk Region Municipal unit, Balagansky District of Irkutsk Region, is located in the central part of Irkutsk Region out of the main ways.The Balagansky District of Irkutsk Region is relatively underpopulated and economically insignificant on a scale of Irkutsk Region. The distance from Balagansk settlement, the district centre, to the nearest railway sation Zalari is 86 km and to Irkutsk is 281 km.

The Balagansky District of Irkutsk Region has old history. But after flooding of the Bratsk Reservoir the Balagansky District was eliminated in 1962 and its territory was merged in the Ust-Udinsky District of Irkutsk Region and the Zalarinsky District of Irkutsk Region. The Balagansky District of Irkutsk Region was recreated in 1989. In 2000 the Charter of the municipal unit of the Balagansky District of Irkutsk Region was adopted.

According to the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR from April, 19th, 1941 the Bayandayevsky Aimak with the centre Bayandai Settlement was found on the basis of nine Rural Soviets of the Ekhirit-Bulagatsky Aimak

For the years of its existence the Bayandayevsky District of Irkutsk Region had changed many times. It had been a part of the Ekhirit-Bulagatsky District of Irkutsk Region for 11 and more years. It became a separate district in 1975, February, again.

The Bayandayevsky District is located in the north-eastern part of the Okrug within the watershed of two enormous river systems - the Yenisey and Lena and spreads along the Yakutsky Trakt on the territory of 375 619 hectares at length of 100 km and width of 40 km. The centre of the District is Bayandai settlement, the distance to Ust-Ordynsky settlement, the centre of Ust-Orda Buryat Okrug, is 62 km, to the Region Centre, Irkutsk, is 130 km. It is connected with the regional centre by a asphalt highway.

Zalarinsky District of Irkutsk Region Zalarinsky District of Irkutsk Region was established in 1925 and consisted of 19 Selsoviets (local councils). At the present time the territory of the Zalarinsky District is divided into 15 internal municipal units: 13 rural administrations and 2 semi-rural administrations. There are all 70 settlements in the Zalarinsky District of Irkutsk Region, which average population is 284 inhabitants.

The Zalarinsky District of Irkutsk Region is located at the south-western part of Irkutsk Region and takes up 7 600 square kilometers or 1 % of Irkutsk Region.

The Zalarinsky District of Irkutsk Region has favorable geographical location, the Trans-Siberian Railway and the road Krasnoyarsk – Irkutsk pass through the territory of the District. The distance from Zalari settlement to Irkutsk , the regional centre is 202 km by motor road and 195 km by railroad.

Bratsky District of Irkutsk Region The Bratsky district executive committee of Irkutsk Region was firstly mentioned in documents of twenties as the Bratsky Volost Executive Committee of the Workers and Peasants Deputies Council. The last zoning of Siberian Krai was carried out in October of 1925 by the Resolution of All-Russian Central Executive Committee (VTsIK0 of the USSR of May 25, 1925. Official birthdate of the Bratsky District of Irkutsk Region is considered to be June 28, 1925).

The Bratsky District of Irkutsk Region in 1926 was a taiga skirt of East-Siberian Krai and a permanent place for deportations which area was about 30 000 km2 and population was about 20 000 inhabitants. There wasn’t either small- scale or large-scale industry (except for artisan workshop) at that time. 25% population was illiterate. There were 5 reading rooms, 33 propaganda rooms which were called "Krasny Ugolok", a library, 2 portable projectors and a wired-radio outlet. 1170 types of newspapers and 690 types of magazines were taken in.

Climate of the district is strongly continental, winter is long and dry and summer is short.

Zhigalovsky District of Irkutsk Region Zhigalovsky District of Irkutsk Region was established in 1925. Total area is 22 800 km2. The District was performed as a municipal unit after adoption of the Charter of the municipal unit “Zhigalovsky District of Irkutsk Region” from November 19, 1999.

The district centre, Zhigalovo Settlement, is located 400 km on the north-east from Irkutsk, the regional centre, and on the left shore of the Lena River. There are 40 settlements located 5 -110 km from the regional centre. The Zhigalovsky District of Irkutsk Region borders on 5 district of Irkutsk Region: the Kachugsky District, the Ust-Kutsky District, the Kazachinsko-Lensky District, the Ust-Udinsky District and the Osinsky District. You can get to these districts and the regional centre by automobile. There are the following enterprises which are important for stabilization socioeconomic situation in the Zhigalovsky District: branches of Federal State Institution “Lenskoe GBU VP & S and Zhigalovsky ship-building yard” and OGUP DSIO, “Zhigalovsky wood division”, Ust-Uda seismic prospecting crew, RUSIA Petroleum Joint Stock Co., oil and gas drilling companies.

Bokhansky District of Irkutsk Region The Bokhansky District of Irkutsk Region was founded in autumn of 1922. It is one of the one of the largest agricultural areas of the Ust-Orda Buryat Autonomous Okrug. The district borders on the Usolsky District of Irkutsk Region, the Cheremkhovsky District of Irkutsk Region in the south-west, on the Osinsky District of Irkutsk Region in the north, on the Ekhirit-Bulagatsky District of Irkutsk Region and the Irkutsky District of Irkutsk Region in the soth-east. Total area of the Bokhansky District of Irkutsk Region is 3 700 km2 or 16% of the Ust-Orda Buryat Autonomous Okrug.

The centre of the district is Bokhan settlement located 100 km from the centre of the Okrug , Ust-Orda settlement, and 128 km from the city of Irkutsk.

The Katangsky District borders on the Evenkysky Autonomous District of Krasnoyarsky Krai in the north and the north-west, on Yakutia in the north and the north-east, on the Ust-Kutsky District of Irkutsk Region, the Nizhneilimsky District of Irkutsk Region, the Kirensky Distict of Irkutsk Region in the south.

The territory of the Katangsky District is located on the Middle-Siberian Plateau. The district lies north and south 58° N to 64° N, west and east from 140° E to 110° E. The landscape is represented by a billowy plateau, but the territory of the New Tungusska abounds in Siberian volcanogenic trapps include bald mountains, rocks, ridges.
